SENIOR IN-HOUSE OPPORTUNITY
Looking for a senior legal role where you can continue doing genuinely complex and interesting work without the demands of traditional private practice?
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced workplace lawyer to join a large in-house legal team in Brisbane CBD, combining sophisticated contentious work and regular advocacy with genuinely sustainable working arrangements.
The opportunity offers:
Total remuneration up to $199K
Permanent senior in-house appointment
*****-hour working week
WFH and flexible working arrangements
Part-time options available
Complex and high-profile workplace matters
Direct access to senior decision-makers and stakeholders
Professional development and leadership opportunities
Highly experienced and collegiate legal team
THE ROLE
Joining an established Workplace Law team, you will work alongside highly regarded senior practitioners on significant employment and industrial relations disputes.
This is not a traditional advisory-only employment role.
You will take ownership of sophisticated contentious matters from commencement through to final hearing, with the opportunity to maintain and further develop your advocacy skills.
Your work will include:
Managing complex workplace and industrial disputes from commencement to resolution;
Developing case and litigation strategy;
Providing strategic employment and industrial relations advice;
Appearing before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission in contested proceedings;
Preparing and presenting verbal and written submissions;
Leading evidence and conducting examination-in-chief, cross-examination and re-examination;
Advising senior stakeholders throughout significant workplace disputes;
Managing key client relationships; and
Contributing to the leadership and management of the broader practice.
ABOUT YOU
We are interested in speaking with senior lawyers who have developed strong workplace relations and advocacy experience.
Ideally, you will have approximately 10+ years' post-admission experience.
However, candidates with fewer years who have developed substantial advocacy experience will also be considered.
You will ideally bring:
Strong employment and industrial relations knowledge;
Experience managing complex contentious matters;
Demonstrated advocacy experience, including verbal submissions and working with witnesses;
Experience appearing before courts, commissions or tribunals; and
The ability to confidently manage senior client and stakeholder relationships.
WHY MAKE THE MOVE?
This opportunity is particularly suited to a senior lawyer who wants to retain the quality, complexity and advocacy of their practice, while gaining the flexibility and working conditions that can be difficult to achieve at senior level.
Rather than stepping away from challenging legal work, you will continue to run significant matters, work directly with senior stakeholders and regularly appear as an advocate, while benefiting from a *****-hour working week and genuine flexibility.
With total remuneration up to $199K, adaptable and part-time arrangements, WFH options and a permanent appointment, it offers a compelling alternative for senior lawyers looking for their next long-term move.
Relocation applications are also welcomed.
