Technician - Hygiene
We are looking for a passionate and talented Hygiene Technician to join our HSE team at Rio Tinto Yarwun Refinery based in Gladstone, working Monday to Friday or you have the option to do a 9‐day fortnight.
Responsibilities
Conduct Occupational Hygiene Surveys to identify and confirm exposure risks and prepare associated reports
Perform routine and targeted monitoring
Educate, communicate and engage with Rio Tinto HSE groups, site leaders and operational personnel
Ensure occupational hygiene documentation is current and accurate
Support the administration of programs such as ChemAlert or Cority
Manage site equipment and monitors
What You Will Bring
Genuine interest in understanding and improving workers' health
Scientific educational background
Understanding of legislative requirements relating to health surveillance and occupational hygiene
Sound understanding of MS Office
Completion of the Basic Principle of Occupational Hygiene – desirable
Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) – desirable

Yarwun Refinery – located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north‐west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in ****. With a focus on safety, the team at Yarwun challenges themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24‐hour operation.
