About The Role
Junior Draftsperson/ Draftsperson / FT – Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
This role allows you to be a vital part of our only production and manufacturing site, contributing to the design and development of our high-quality products. You will be working in a small team, reporting to the Lead Design Engineer, while collaborating with various stakeholders to bring innovative ideas to life.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving challenges creatively, identifying opportunities, and influencing product designs through a combination of technical skills, sketches, CAD, and explicit communication. You will be a commercially minded self-starter who can work autonomously as well as within a team, with the ability to lead discussions, explore new concepts, and continuously improve designs and processes.
The ideal candidate will have completed a Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting or Diploma of Engineering – Technical Drafting, or be currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering.
Responsibilities
Develop, engineer and design products using 3D Modelling software
Coordinates the manufacturing process and release of drawings between engineering and production team.
Supports Lead Design Engineer with project work.
Product design and consultation with engineering management.
Produce manufacturing and assembly drawings for product offerings.
Update design and manufacturing drawings for standard product range and upcoming developments based on design feedback from production team and customer's request.
Design and modify equipment layouts and products on customer request.
Testing and evaluation of new and existing products using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) if required.
Ensure drawing management system (Vault) is adhered to and workflow structure is maintained throughout detail drawings.
Adhere to inhouse design standards and conventions
All design work carried out to the required Australian Standards
Compile reports and documentation detailing recommendations from research and development activities if required.
Liaise with other departments when required (production & sales).
Provide Technical support to all sales staff when instructed.
Site visits as directed including assisting production team with commissioning as required.
Attend training as required.
Maintain awareness of legal and regulatory controls.
Other duties as directed by Lead Design Engineer.
What You'll Need To Succeed
Competency in CAD using Autodesk Inventor
Autodesk AutoCAD experience (Desired)
FEA Analysis (Desired)
Laser Cutting / CNC programming experience (Desired)
Exposure to lean manufacturing
Technical aptitude and detailed design skills
Numeric and analytical skills
Interpersonal skills
Self-motivated
TAFE qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent or working towards university degree.
Driver's Licence.
