As a membership organisation with over 10,000 members, they are our number one priority. You will be a trusted advisor, providing accurate, timely and practical workplace health and safety advice predominantly over the phone, via email and through member engagement activities.
This is a role for someone who understands the realities of workplace health and safety within a high-risk industry and can confidently translate legislative requirements into practical, member-focused guidance. No two days will look the same, and may include:
Providing practical workplace health and safety advice to members across building and construction workplaces
Interpreting WHS legislation, codes of practice, guidance material and industry safety requirements
Supporting members with risk assessments, safe work method statements, incident response and safety management processes
Assisting with the development and delivery of WHS resources, training, webinars and member education activities
Contributing to industry advocacy, research activities and continuous improvement initiatives that support safer workplaces.
What you will bring to the team
We are looking for an experienced and capable workplace health and safety professional who can hit the ground running. You will bring the confidence, judgement and practical experience needed to provide clear advice from day one. You will understand how to apply safety legislation, risk management principles and industry guidance to real-world construction environments.
Formal WHS qualifications, such as Certificate IV,
Diploma or relevant tertiary study, are highly regarded
Robust working knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, codes of practice and industry safety requirements
Demonstrated experience providing practical WHS advice in construction, building, trade, infrastructure or a comparable high-risk environment
Experience supporting risk assessments, SWMS, hazard management and safety practices
Ability to distil complex legislative requirements in an easy to understand manner (verbally and in writing
Confidence developing practical resources, guidance notes, toolbox materials or member education content
While not essential, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, familiarity with AS **** and AS ISO ****, and/or understanding of workers' compensation and return-to-work requirements would be highly regarded.
