The Northern Heart Centre sits at the centre of cardiac care delivery for Tasmania's north and north west, and the clinical and operational leader shaping its future matters enormously to the patients who depend on it. The Department of Health is seeking a Cardiologist to join the team in a permanent role and provide leadership across this specialist service.
Responsibilities
Delivering comprehensive cardiology assessment, diagnosis, and management for admitted and referred patients
Performing and interpreting a broad range of cardiac investigations and interventional procedures appropriate to your scope of practice
Contributing to after-hours on-call rosters and acute cardiac response
Providing clinical supervision and education to junior medical staff, registrars, and students
Salary & Benefits
$222,789 – $319,701 per annum, pro rata
12% Superannuation

Salary: The remuneration package for this position, based on classification as a Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starts at $500,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania) ****.
Note: Access to the Senior Specialist salary range ($309,222 – $319,701) is subject to meeting the eligibility criteria set out in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award ****.
In addition, the following allowances may be available:
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum, pro rata
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata
Relocation and commencement support up to $15,000 for approved appointees




Management Allowance up 10% applied to this role
Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%. Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata will be paid. If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year

Eligibility & Requirements
Holds specialist registration
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality
Current Driver's Licence
