Diverse range of roads, earthworks, structures projects in the pipeline
Transparent path to develop into a Project Manager
$180,000 to $200,000 + Flights + Accommodation + Company Vehicle
If you are ambitious, excel in taking ownership of delivery, and are motivated by being relied on to make things happen, this is that role.
This role is site-based. Not head office, not remote support.
Our Client is based in Brisbane but they need you to be happy to work on projects in regional areas in Qld and NSW.
Rosters vary from project to project, but they are typically 5/2 or 10/4.
You'll Be
Sitting between the Project Manager and the Engineers, taking ownership of key parts of delivery. Programme, cost, quality and subcontractors. Making sure what's planned actually gets built;
Across the detail. Managing variations, tracking costs, dealing with subcontractors and solving issues before they slow the job down;
Working closely with the Superintendent and Supervisors to keep production moving, while also supporting the Project Manager on commercial and programme outcomes;
Guiding Project Engineers, Site Engineers and grads, helping them understand how the job really works, not just what the drawings say.
As an experienced SPE, you'll be savvy enough to know that things change, issues come up and not everything runs clean.
You'll be expected to deal with that, not elevate everything upward.
What makes you a great fit (but don't stress if you don't tick every box)
Civil Engineering degree;
Minimum of 5 years' experience on site-based roads, earthworks, structures or public infrastructure projects;
Skilled in running sections of work, not just assisting;
Ability to manage programme, cost and subcontractors;
Comfortable dealing with Supervisors, Superintendents and clients;
Thorough understanding of contracts, variations and commercial risk;
Ability to pick up issues early and deal with them;
Willingness to be site-based and move with the work (QLD / NSW);
Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting for direction.
Nice To Have (but Not Essential)
A background in TMR and/or RMS projects will put your application above the competition;
Strong working knowledge of P6;
An interest in progressing into a Project Manager role over time.
About The Company
This opportunity sits with a well-respected civil contractor in Brisbane. We are also working with a number of similar Clients throughout Queensland and NSW. So, if this one isn't quite right, we'll look to match you with something that is. Let us know what you are looking for when you apply.
