About the role
We're looking for a Social Media Specialist to join us on a fixed-term contract, covering a period of parental leave. You'll keep Chery Australia's social media presence running at full pace — creating and scheduling content, managing our channels day‐to‐day, engaging our community, and working alongside our agency partners. You'll bring creative storytelling, an eye for detail, and a strong understanding of digital culture to maintain our brand presence and engagement across key social platforms.
This is a hands‐on role where you'll be able to hit the ground running, take ownership of established channels and programs,
and keep momentum through an exciting period of campaign activity and current model launches.
Key responsibilities
Manage the day‐to‐day running of Chery Australia's social channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn), ensuring consistent tone, visual identity, and community engagement.
Execute and maintain the existing social media strategy and content calendar, aligned to broader marketing and campaign objectives.
Work with our agency partners to brief and review social content and paid campaigns, coordinating feedback and escalating approvals where needed.
Track spend against allocated social and influencer budgets, keeping records up to date and flagging any variances to the marketing team.
Manage community engagement with authenticity and speed, turning followers into advocates while maintaining brand voice and reputation.
Manage influencer marketing programs through our agency partners — briefing, reviewing creator selections and content, and tracking performance against campaign objectives.
Monitor and report on social performance KPIs including reach, engagement and sentiment, flagging trends and opportunities to the wider marketing team.
Collaborate cross‐functionally with PR, Brand, Product, and Retail Marketing teams to ensure social alignment across all customer touchpoints.
Stay across social trends, platform updates, and emerging creators, providing recommendations to keep Chery at the forefront of automotive conversation.
Support a smooth handover at the beginning and end of the contract period.
Skills and experience
Minimum 2–3 years' experience in social media management or digital marketing, ideally within a consumer or automotive brand environment.
Ability to hit the ground running — comfortable stepping into established channels, processes, and agency relationships with minimal ramp‐up time.
Strong understanding of content strategy, storytelling, and how to build brand equity and engagement through social platforms.
Experience working with creative or media agencies, managing influencer activity through agency partners, and tracking campaign budgets and performance.
Skilled in community management with a proven ability to handle high‐volume conversations and drive positive sentiment.
Confident in using social media analytics tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Meltwater, or similar) and translating data into actionable insights.
Excellent written communication skills with a strong sense of brand tone and adaptability across channels.
Highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment.
A curious, creative mindset with a passion for automotive, culture, and emerging digital trends.
Available to commence [start date] or by negotiation.
Why join Chery Australia
Be part of one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in Australia.
Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment where innovation and creativity are valued.
Gain experience with a global organisation during a high‐profile period of campaign and launch activity.
Play a key role in maintaining Chery's voice and community in the Australian market.
