Endless Care Support Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated
Disability Support Worker
to join our team in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. This is a casual position that offers ongoing hours. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with varying disabilities, helping them to live as independently as possible and participate fully in their communities. This role is fundamental to our mission of delivering high-quality, person-centred care and support services.
Key responsibilities
Provide personal care and support to clients with disabilities, including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
Support clients with mobility and transferring, using appropriate manual handling techniques and assistive equipment
Assist clients with meal preparation, nutrition and hydration management
Accompany and support clients to attend medical appointments, social activities and community outings
Help clients with household tasks and maintaining a secure living environment
Provide emotional support and build positive relationships with clients, treating them with dignity and respect
Communicate effectively with clients, their families and the wider care team to ensure coordinated support
Document and report on client needs, progress and any concerns or incidents that may occur
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures including privacy and duty of care requirements
Support clients in developing life skills and pursuing their goals and aspirations
Have experience with behaviours
What we're looking for
A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
Previous experience working in aged care, disability support, community services or a related field is highly desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen actively and build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
Physical fitness and ability to assist with mobility support and manual handling tasks
A current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
A current Working with Children Check or Senior Check (or equivalent) and a valid police clearance
Knowledge of disability support best practice and understanding of relevant legislation such as the Disability Discrimination Act
Reliability, punctuality and the ability to manage your own time effectively in a casual role
A non-judgmental approach and respect for client autonomy and choice
Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Flexibility and willingness to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends where required
