Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated
Forensic Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Case Worker
to join our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team in Mildura.
This role provides culturally safe, trauma-informed case management and wellbeing support to Aboriginal people experiencing alcohol and other drug related challenges, particularly those who access treatment through the criminal justice system,



including court-mandated treatment pathways and diversion programs.
Working within a harm minimisation and Social and Emotional Wellbeing framework, you will undertake AOD screening and assessments, develop and review treatment plans, provide psychosocial interventions, support clients through recovery journeys and facilitate access to specialist AOD, withdrawal, rehabilitation, mental health and community support services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed case management and wellbeing support to clients experiencing alcohol and other drug related challenges, including those involved with the justice system.
Conduct AOD screening, assessments, risk assessments and develop, monitor and review client journey plans, recovery goals and safety plans.
Coordinate referrals and access to specialist services including detoxification, rehabilitation, mental health and broader community support programs.
Support justice-related service delivery through management of ACSO referrals, attendance at Koori Court and preparation of client reports where required.
Collaborate with internal programs, community members and external stakeholders to deliver coordinated care and achieve positive client outcomes.
Maintain accurate client records and reporting, while supporting community engagement, group programs and continuous improvement initiatives within the SEWB team.

Knowledge and Experience
Demonstrated experience delivering effective case management and evidence-based support for individuals experiencing alcohol and other drug (AOD) related challenges.
Sound knowledge and practical application of harm minimisation, trauma-informed practice and holistic wellbeing approaches.
Experience providing culturally safe, person-centred services within Aboriginal health, Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB), mental health and/or AOD settings.
Strong understanding of the impacts of trauma, substance use and justice system involvement on individuals, families and communities.
Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across community, courts, justice services and partner organisations.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with experience in an ACCHO, community health or forensic AOD environment highly regarded.
Qualifications
Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs and/or Community Services, with a strong commitment to ongoing career development and further study in AOD.
Applicants with an undergraduate qualification must have completed AOD core competencies or hold a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drug Studies.
Other Requirements
Current Employee Working with Children Check.
Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
