Newly created role | Large financial services business Open to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney locations Build a small team from scratch to lead and uplift the existing function Location: Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney About the Client: A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced investment governance professional to establish and lead a newly created Investment Governance function within a large financial services organisation.
This role sits at the intersection of funds management, investment oversight, product governance and trustee services, offering broad exposure across a diverse range of investment products and asset classes.
Leading a small specialist team, you will be responsible for building capability, enhancing frameworks and providing subject matter expertise (SME) across investment governance activities.
About the Role: Reporting to a senior executive leadership team, you will play a key role in developing and embedding a centralised investment governance framework while acting as a trusted adviser across the business.
Key responsibilities include: Oversight of fund performance monitoring, liquidity management and stress testing activities; Monitoring investment risks, mandate compliance and exception management processes; Acting as the business's investment governance subject matter expert across a broad range of managed funds and asset classes; Reviewing product structures, fund characteristics and disclosure obligations, including Target Market Determinations (TMDs); Providing specialist input into product onboarding, investment due diligence and governance activities; Leading valuation governance activities and serving as a key escalation point for complex valuation matters; Preparing reporting for governance committees, boards and senior stakeholders; Partnering with internal stakeholders, clients,



relationship managers and service providers to address investment governance matters and provide technical guidance; Building knowledge and capability across the broader business through education, support and thought leadership; AND Leading and developing a small team while driving continuous improvement across frameworks, policies and processes; About You: We are seeking a leader with deep investment industry knowledge and the ability to balance technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills and investment governance strategy.
You will ideally bring: Extensive experience within funds management, investment governance, responsible entity, trustee services, investment risk or product governance environments; Robust understanding of managed funds, investment products and associated regulatory obligations; Experience overseeing areas such as performance monitoring, liquidity management, stress testing, valuation governance and investment risk; Working knowledge of product governance, disclosure requirements and fund onboarding processes; Strong stakeholder management capabilities with the confidence to engage, influence and challenge where required; Previous people leadership experience or the capability to build and lead a specialist team; Excellent communication skills and experience preparing papers and reporting for governance committees, executive stakeholders or boards; AND Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
CFA qualifications will be highly regarded; This is an opportunity to build something rather than simply inherit it.
You will lead a newly centralised function, shape future investment governance frameworks, work closely with senior stakeholders and become a recognised subject matter expert across investment governance, valuation oversight, product governance and investment risk within a complex and evolving investment environment.
