Community capacity building partnership development Stakeholder engagement cross-sector collaboration Community program planning, coordination reporting Job Title: Community Engagement Officer Position Summary The Community Engagement Officer supports the delivery of community development initiatives by building strong relationships with community members, stakeholders and partner organisations.
The role focuses on strengthening community capacity, supporting inclusive programs and services, and contributing to initiatives that encourage community participation and positive social outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, stakeholders, service providers and partner organisations.
Support community engagement initiatives that promote participation, inclusion and community-led outcomes.
Assist with the development, implementation and review of community engagement strategies, policies, procedures and programs.
Support initiatives focused on: Seniors and ageing communities Access and inclusion Vulnerable community members Community capacity building Assist with the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of community plans, programs and initiatives.
Coordinate and provide administrative support for stakeholder meetings, advisory groups, networks and community forums.
Research, plan, coordinate and evaluate community programs, events and services.
Assist with project planning, including budgeting, risk management, reporting and performance monitoring.
Prepare reports, briefing notes, correspondence, grant applications and program evaluations.
Support the development of promotional materials, resources and community communication activities.
Represent the organisation at meetings with community groups, government agencies,



service providers and external stakeholders.
Respond to community enquiries, complaints and correspondence while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
Support the coordination, training and supervision of volunteers where required.
Monitor program budgets and report financial issues or risks as required.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across systems, processes and community services.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, equal opportunity and organisational policies.
Key Skills Experience Required Relevant qualifications or experience in Community Development, Community Services, Social Science or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience planning, delivering and evaluating community engagement projects and programs.
Experience developing partnerships, strengthening community capacity and supporting community-led initiatives.
Knowledge and understanding of contemporary social issues affecting diverse community groups.
Highly developed interpersonal, communication, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and community members.
Strong written communication skills, including report writing, research, grant applications and program evaluations.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.




Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and relevant administration, financial and records management systems.
Understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities.
Current driver's licence and ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
Desirable Experience Experience working with, coordinating or supervising volunteers.
Experience delivering community programs within a local government, community services or not-for-profit environment.
Experience supporting diverse, vulnerable or underrepresented community groups.
