au About the Role We are looking for a Quality Assurance Officer to join our team.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and continuously improving our quality management systems, compliance programs, and operational processes.
You will play a key role in ensuring standards are consistently met across the business through effective document control, supplier management, auditing, management of testing, process verification, corrective and preventive actions, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working closely with management, you will help drive a culture of quality, accountability, and operational excellence.
This role requires an individual who understands the complexities of a special diets kitchen, equipment and operations.
The professional is proactive and a detail-oriented who enjoys building robust systems, improving processes, and contributing to business-wide performance and compliance outcomes.
They have a 'can do' attitude and are willing to learn.
What You'll Be Doing Supplier Management - Oversee supplier quality programs, including approvals, reviews, and compliance monitoring.
- Attending primary production processing facilities and conducting inspections to verify that egg and plant products have been processed in accordance with food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements prior to transport to the company's processing facilities.
- Assess and evaluate the compliance performance of external primary produce and food processing suppliers against applicable food safety standards, quality systems, and contractual specifications.
- Perform audits of inbound processed agricultural products to confirm allergen control measures, product integrity, batch traceability, and certification compliance requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain risk assessment frameworks and control measures for the handling, storage, and use of raw materials following initial processing activities.




- Monitor supplier quality assurance practices and identify, investigate, and report potential food safety, quality, or compliance risks associated with processed agricultural inputs.
- Liaise with suppliers and processing facilities to support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure corrective actions are implemented where irregularities or compliance issues are identified.
Equipment Asset Management : Coordinate equipment testing, calibration, maintenance, and performance monitoring to ensure operational reliability and compliance.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and operational processes, driving efficiency, consistency, and continuous improvement.
- This will include but is not to limited to ingredient preparation, cooking, cooling, assembly, packaging and labelling.
- Conducting in-process checks including temperature monitoring, weight checks, visual inspections and organoleptic assessments Risk Governance: Support risk management activities through audits, investigations, corrective actions, and the maintenance of governance frameworks and controls.
This will include but is not limited to: - verifying compliance with HACCP critical control points and the We Feed You Food Safety Plan - Coordinating external laboratory testing programs including gluten testing and microbial testing - Collecting samples, reviewing test results, identifying trends and reporting findings to management - Supporting allergen management across the production process, including verification of allergen declarations and label accuracy - Maintaining comprehensive quality records including receiving logs, monitoring records, test results, non-conformance reports and corrective actions - Supporting product traceability systems and participating in mock recall exercises - Coordinate internal and support with external audits, maintaining certification requirements, and ensure ongoing readiness for compliance assessments.
Document Control – Manage policies, procedures, specifications,



and records to ensure documentation remains accurate, current, and accessible.
Training Culture: Promote a culture of quality and accountability by supporting staff training, competency development, and adherence to procedures.
- Contributing to the development, review and continuous improvement of the Food Safety Plan, standard operating procedures and quality systems - Assisting with internal audits and preparation for external food safety audits and regulatory inspections Data Reporting: Analyse quality and operational data, prepare reports, monitor performance, and provide insights to management to support informed decision-making.
What We're Looking For Essential: • Minimum 3 years' experience in quality assurance, food safety or food inspection within a food manufacturing, food processing or food handling environment.
• Experience with gluten free and Low FODMAP certification standards, regulatory compliance, and governance frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of HACCP principles and their application in a food production setting • Experience in manufacturing for healthcare, aged care and disability services or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience inspecting incoming raw materials and ingredients for quality and compliance • Understanding of food safety legislation and standards, including the FSANZ Food Standards Code • Experience coordinating or conducting product testing programs (e.g. microbial, allergen, nutritional) • Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation, record keeping and labelling • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement on quality and food safety matters • Effective communication skills for liaising with suppliers, laboratories, auditors and the production team Desirable: • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, Quality Assurance or a related discipline • Formal HACCP training or certification • Internal auditing qualification or experience (e.g. ISO *****, FSSC *****, BRC, SQF) • Experience with allergen management in food manufacturing • Experience working with chilled and frozen ready-meal or prepared food products What We Offer • A key role in a growing, innovative Australian food business • A team-oriented, supportive team environment • The opportunity to shape and improve quality and food safety systems from the ground up • Ongoing professional development support
