About the Role
Airswift is seeking an experienced
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to join a major industrial operation in Victoria. This role will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering solutions across brownfield and operational projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient outcomes while meeting technical, regulatory, and business requirements.
The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and design through to procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality mechanical engineering services in compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory obligations.
Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Participate in technical reviews, project meetings, and progress reporting activities.
Define, review, and manage project scope, including the assessment and implementation of engineering changes.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Prepare technical specifications, requisitions, and engineering documentation.
Conduct technical bid evaluations and review vendor submissions.
Support project delivery teams by identifying engineering risks and developing practical solutions.
Coordinate and supervise engineering activities where required, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Foster effective communication with internal stakeholders, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers when required.
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering best practices.
Skills & Qualifications




Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Australian-recognised institution.
Mandatory
RPEV (Registered Qualified Engineer Victoria)
certification.
CPEng
accreditation preferred.
Demonstrated experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, metals, mining, or processing environments.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in industrial operations.
Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality engineering outcomes within complex operational environments.
Sound knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards, regulations, and industry practices.
Proficiency in mechanical engineering software and design tools.
Strong stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
Cranes and lifting equipment
Bulk materials handling and storage systems
Mobile plant and equipment
Molten metal furnaces and casting operations
Cooling towers and cooling water systems
Air compressor systems
Fume extraction and treatment systems
Metallurgical processing operations
Heat transfer systems and thermal calculations
Hydraulic systems and pump calculations
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Maintenance, reliability, and asset integrity engineering
