This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of our granite quarry.

Key Responsibilities: Safety Compliance (Primary Focus): Enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations without exception.
Conduct pre-shift safety inspections of the pit, equipment, and work areas, documenting and correcting hazards promptly.
Lead safety meetings and training sessions for crew members.
Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain all required safety and production records in accordance with state and federal laws.
Operational Excellence: Directly supervise quarry personnel and daily mining activities, including drilling, loading, and hauling.
Oversee the extraction of granite blocks, ensuring quality standards are met.
Collaborate with the Quarry Manager to develop and execute short-range mining plans.




Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
Optimise production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Leadership Team Development: Provide direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to equipment operators and other quarry staff.
Foster a positive, accountable, and proactive team culture centered on safety and quality.
Assist in scheduling, assigning tasks, and evaluating crew performance.
Required Qualifications Certifications: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a surface mining environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of quarry operations, including drilling, and heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders).
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: What We Offer: • A competitive salary from $160,000 per annum plus superannuation is commensurate and performance-based bonus structure.
Experience specifically in a granite or hard rock quarry.
Formal education in Mine Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
