About the Position The Chef role is central to the day-to-day kitchen operations at the Milkbar Southbank venue.
This position is responsible for preparing and cooking a full range of menu items to a consistently high standard, supporting menu development and quality control, and helping maintain efficient, hygienic kitchen workflows so that guests and corporate clients receive excellent food every service.
Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present breakfast, brunch, toastie,
bagel and other menu items to Milkbar's standards during busy service periods Assist with recipe development, seasonal specials and menu refinements while maintaining cost control and consistency Receive, check, store and rotate stock; monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to minimise waste Maintain high standards of food safety, kitchen hygiene and equipment cleanliness in line with regulatory requirements Support efficient workflow during peak periods, coordinate with front-of-house on dietary needs and special requests, and contribute to smooth service delivery Complete opening, closing and checklist duties; help train and guide junior kitchen team members as required Requirements Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply Diploma (or higher) in commercial cookery, kitchen management or equivalent (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) Minimum one year of relevant experience as a Chef Strong technical cooking skills across breakfast/brunch styles, ability to work efficiently under pressure, and good communication and teamwork abilities How to Apply To apply, applicants must submit their resume with a valid email address through this online portal.
