Spirit of India Restaurant is seeking an experienced and skilled Chef to prepare, cook and present high-quality Indian cuisine.
The Chef will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, supervising kitchen operations, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities Plan and design menus in consultation with management, including traditional Indian dishes, curries, tandoori items, entrees, breads, rice dishes and desserts.
Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes according to restaurant recipes, quality standards and customer preferences.
Marinate, season and prepare meats, seafood, vegetables and other ingredients using appropriate Indian cooking techniques.
Operate and manage kitchen equipment including tandoor, grills, ovens, stoves and other commercial kitchen appliances.
Supervise and guide cooks and kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking methods, portion control and presentation standards.
Ensure all meals are prepared and presented in a timely manner during lunch,



dinner and busy service periods.
Monitor food quality, taste, temperature, presentation and consistency before meals are served to customers.
Estimate food and labour requirements and assist with ordering stock, ingredients, spices and kitchen supplies.
Check freshness and quality of ingredients and ensure proper storage of food items in accordance with food safety standards.
Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen and ensure compliance with relevant food handling regulations.
Train kitchen staff in cooking techniques, protected food handling, kitchen procedures and restaurant standards.
Assist management with cost control by reducing wastage and maintaining proper stock rotation.
Prepare special dishes for events, catering orders, functions and customer dietary requirements where required.
Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and professionally at all times.
