Cook (Full Time) Tequila N Tacos ( The Trustee for Grills of Caribbean Unit Trust) Port Noarlunga, SA, **** $************* per annum (plus Superannuation) About the Role Tequila N Tacos is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team in Port Noarlunga, SA.
This full-time role is ideal for a skilled culinary professional with strong commercial cooking experience and a commitment to high food standards.
The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, cooking, stock handling, kitchen compliance, and service support, while maintaining consistency, presentation, and hygiene standards.
Job Responsibilities 1.Examining fresh ingredients such as meats, seafood, vegetables, tortillas, cheeses, and house-made salsas to ensure quality and consistency in Mexican-style dishes.
2.Regulating temperatures of grills, hot plates, ovens, and fryers used for preparing tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, nachos, and other menu items to maintain food safety and flavour integrity.
3.Preparing and cooking a wide range of Mexican dishes including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, nachos, and specialty items using standardised recipes and techniques.
4.Seasoning and marinating meats and vegetables using traditional Mexican spices, herbs, and sauces to ensure authentic taste profiles.
5.Portioning food, assembling dishes, and plating items with appropriate garnishes such as guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, and sauces to meet presentation standards.
6.Storing food items, including fresh produce, meats, and prepared components,
in temperature-controlled environments in accordance with food safety regulations.
7.Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and customised menu options where required.
8.Assisting in menu planning, including contributing ideas for tacos, shared plates, and seasonal specials, and estimating food and ingredient requirements.
9.
Training and supervising junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, and efficient service during high-volume periods.
What you must have: ·Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
·Minimum 1 year of full-time relevant experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen setting.
·Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.
·Ability to prepare and cook meals efficiently while maintaining high quality and presentation standards.
·Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and WHS requirements.
·Experience with stock handling, food storage, and minimising food wastage.
·Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and during busy service periods.
·Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills.
·Ability to follow restaurant recipes, procedures, and kitchen standards consistently.
·A positive attitude, reliability, and passion for hospitality and customer satisfaction.
