Overview : Backsafe Australia is seeking a hands-on Electronic Engineering Technician (Service Technician) to diagnose, repair, assemble, and commission battery-powered material handling equipment and electromechanical systems.
Working from our Perth workshop, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment is delivered safely, reliably, and to the highest quality standards.
Main Tasks: -Diagnose and troubleshoot low-voltage electrical, electronic, and electromechanical faults using specialised diagnostic tools.
-Repair and replace batteries, chargers, electric motors, wiring harnesses, switches, relays, electronic controllers, and control components.
-Assemble, modify, wire, and prepare powered material handling equipment for customer delivery.
-Conduct thorough functional testing, commissioning, and quality control inspections prior to dispatch.
-Perform Test Tag inspections on electrical safety equipment in accordance with AS/NZS **** requirements.
-Complete detailed service reports, fault documentation, and maintain accurate repair records.
-Manage and maintain accuracy of technical spare parts, replacement modules, and workshop inventory, including monitoring stock levels and raising purchase requisitions as needed.
-Assist with picking, packing, and dispatching specialised technical equipment and spare parts orders as required.
-Safely operate workshop equipment, including forklifts (LF) and service vehicles, to position, load, and transport electromechanical units, tools, and testing gear.
-Maintain a clean, safe, compliant, and organised workshop environment.
Required/Relevant Qualifications Work Experience: -Minimum of a relevant Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
-At least one year of relevant experience in a service technician, electrical, electronic, or electromechanical role.
Required/Relevant Skills Knowledge: -Strong electronic fault-finding, circuit testing, and technical problem-solving skills.
-Practical ability to use electrical testing equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, PAT testers) and interpret technical wiring schematics and manuals.
-High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality workmanship and safety protocols.
-Current Australian Driver's Licence (experience driving manual transmission vehicles required).
-Current High Risk Work Licence for Forklift (LF) and Test Tag certification highly regarded.
Annual salary will be between $75,****** to $85,****** (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
