Expression of Interest - Independent Members of the City of West Torrens Council Audit and Risk Committee The City of West Torrens invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment to its Audit and Risk Committee.
The City of West Torrens Audit Risk Committee provides independent assurance and advice to Council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management, and governance.
Committee members offer advice and recommendations in line with the Terms of Reference to support informed decision-making by the Audit Risk Committee and Council in carrying out their responsibilities.
The Terms of Reference are available here: Audit and Risk Terms of Reference Term of appointment and meeting information Independent members will be appointed for terms of up to three years, from 1 December **** to 20 November ****, and may be eligible for reappointment.
The Audit and Risk Committee meet every two months between February and October each year.
Three independent member positions are available.
One of these positions will be appointed as Independent Presiding Member.
The Audit Committee meets in person at least six times a year at the City of West Torrens Civic Centre, 165 Sir Donald Bradman Drive.
A National Police Clearance (within six months of issue) will be required as part of the appointment process.
About you We invite expressions of interest from individuals who bring: Robust expertise in risk management frameworks, including the identification, assessment,
and mitigation of strategic and operational risks.
A sound understanding of governance, compliance, and assurance practices, and the ability to support effective oversight and accountability.
Demonstrated ability to interpret financial information through a risk lens, including financial sustainability and controls.
Candidates should ideally have extensive experience and relevant qualifications in risk, accounting, auditing, or legal practice, gained in large, complex organisations or the local government sector.
