About the role
The Senior Manager Communications and Engagement is responsible for the delivery of strategic communication and community engagement services and initiatives for Inner West Council. This role will ensure effective internal and external communication, foster positive relationships with residents, stakeholders, and community groups, and support the Council's efforts to engage the public in decision-making processes.
The Senior Manager will develop and manage comprehensive communication strategies that promote transparency, build trust, and inform the public about key projects, policies, and services.
The person will protect and advance the reputation of Council via proactive communication and expert issues management as well as building and maintaining strong relationships and advocates among key stakeholders including local businesses, community,
peak bodies and media.

Remuneration
An annual Total Remuneration Package (TRP) range in recognition of:
Market relativity
Additional hours worked required to meet position requirements and performance expectations
Access to IWC motor vehicle lease back scheme for private use
The TRP includes the following components:
Base salary and superannuation (SCG) contribution (currently 11.5%), and may include:
market premium
cost of non-cash benefits
cost of fringe benefits tax (FBT)
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in community engagement, public policy, communications or other related social sciences discipline, or demonstrable equivalent industry experience as a senior leader
Significant experience in strategic communication, engagement public affairs and/or media in a large organisation, State of Federal Government at the Ministerial level or above.
Demonstrated experience liaising with mainstream media and success in placing stories with strong facilitation and presentation skills with experience leading public consultation, workshops and forums
Extensive experience in developing and delivering successful integrated corporate communication and advocacy strategies and leading customer-focused teams to achieve organisational goals
Extensive experience in crisis/ issues management with a proven ability to navigate complex and/or sensitive issues as well as build and maintain relationships and influence stakeholders
Current NSW Class C Driver's License
