Our client is seeking an experienced
Principal Electrical Engineer / Manager ASP3
to oversee the successful execution of electrical design scopes across high-value infrastructure projects. This senior leadership role involves guiding cross-functional teams, ensuring technical excellence, and delivering designs that de‐risk projects and drive client value.
You'll work closely with internal project teams, consultants, and client organisations to define strategy, manage execution, and contribute to business development efforts. This is an opportunity to enhance the organisation's reputation as the electrical design partner of choice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project strategy and planning in collaboration with clients to address electrical design needs
Define key milestones, deliverables, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with project goals
Oversee implementation of electrical design projects, ensuring quality, cost, and time benchmarks are met
Manage design teams, digital engineers, and subcontractors to maintain technical excellence
Ensure all work adheres to statutory standards and client requirements
Represent client interests in leadership meetings and key decisions where appropriate
Maintain strong relationships with asset owners, clients,
and authorities to unlock new project opportunities
Contribute to tenders, client meetings, and presentations as part of business development
Strategic Thinking – Ability to anticipate challenges, align project plans to business objectives, and deliver innovative solutions
Team Leadership – Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-disciplinary teams to achieve high-quality outcomes
Analytical Agility – Skilled in reviewing complex data, drawing insights, and using evidence to support decisions
Client Relationship Management – Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage expectations and deliver tailored value
Commercial Awareness – Understanding the financial, regulatory and delivery impact of engineering decisions across a project lifecycle
Qualifications and Requirements
Undergraduate Electrical Engineering qualification recognised by Engineers Australia
10 to 15+ years' experience in the Electrical Supply Industry
Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary design teams and large-scale projects
Strong commercial, stakeholder and project management skillset
Highly proficient in project management tools and software
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a focus on outcomes
