Job description: Specific duties
Primarily function of this role is to ensure the productive delivery of engineering for the FQM South American Projects.
The role will include: focus on the study and detailed design phases of these projects.
support the construction and commissioning phases on an ad hoc basis.
be based in Perth Australia and require travel to South America.
work in South America with local engineers and contractors with visits to site as required.
The role will provide direction and decision making across all engineering disciplines, with the support of the FQM project engineering team.
bring practical operating and maintenance perspective into the detail design development.
review existing FQM operational and maintenance practices, including feedback from recently completed projects to bring learnings to our South American Projects.
liaise closely with FQM Project Managers and Project Engineers to understand and deliver on the cost and time schedule needs of each Project, and ensuring detail design quantities are regularly compared to budget.
work pro-actively with the different Engineering houses and consultants that we engage onto a project both in Australia and South America.
ensure consistency of approach for all designs that are developed.
coordinating engineering deliverables and their timeliness for feeding into procurement, fabrication and construction.
use a previously established FQM library of learnings, developing an engineering or technical 'First Quantum Criteria Document' which can be applied at a high level, to ensure that a basic minimum standard is clearly communicated to each Engineer for design intent, expansion capability, operability and maintainability.
actively lead and / or participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
looking for new technologies and enhancements to current work practices.
Requirements:
Standard engineering management skills, preference for previous experience in a similar role with similar size of project.
Ability to work occasionally overseas for periods of time potentially in the South American engineering offices.
Some Spanish language skills and familiarity with South America.
