Pay: AU$75,****** – AU$80,****** per year Job description: METAL MACHINIST – MANUFACTURING Our client has positions available for experienced Metal Machinists POSITION OVERVIEW We are recruiting for multiple roles on behalf of our client for experienced Metal Machinists to join their manufacturing team.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining specialized machinery to ensure production meets designated delivery times and contractual obligations.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with proven technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe work practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Production and Machine Operation ● Perform daily assigned production tasks to ensure timely completion and meeting of production targets ● Operate designated machines and equipment in a safe manner according to Safe Work Instructions and manufacturers' guidelines ● Conduct daily prestart machine checks, including completing maintenance and calibration registers ● Set up machines in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and operational requirements ● Program and operate Schnell/Temor machines according to schedule tags and production requirements ● Run machines to produce products, including conducting quality checks to ensure correct size, shape, and specifications ● Perform routine site inspections to ensure machine optimization and maintenance performance standards Quality and Output Management ● Bundle and tag produced products according to specifications ● Liaison with warehouse and logistics teams to move bundles to designated storage areas for warehouse efficiency ● Ensure produced material is bundled and handled following Safe Work Instructions ● Report any faults, equipment issues, or defects to the Team Leader, Floor Supervisor,
or Warehouse Manager immediately Equipment and Materials Handling ● Operate overhead gantry cranes to remove and load products on machinery when required ● Manage material flow and coordinate with warehouse/loading teams Maintenance, Safety and Compliance ● Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment during shifts and handovers ● Ensure all scheduled and required maintenance is carried out following safe operating procedures ● Treat all equipment breakdowns as a matter of urgency and address them promptly ● Record daily activity and maintenance works performed ● Follow all applicable Secure Work Instructions and site safety protocols at all times Training and Continuous Improvement ● Assist with training and buddy system support for new employees when requested ● Participate in toolbox discussions and contribute to the organization's continuous improvement plan ● Participate in site consultation and toolbox talk requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Formal Qualifications ● AQF Level 3 or Level 4 Certificate in Metal Fabrication, Machine Operation, Engineering, or related trade discipline, or equivalent demonstrated competency Essential Experience ● Demonstrated experience operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment in a manufacturing environment ● Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and machine specifications ● Experience with machine setup, calibration,
and prestart checks ● Sound knowledge of Safe Work Method Statements and ability to work within a safety-focused environment Technical Skills ● Proficiency in machine operation and programming (Schnell/Temor machines or similar preferred) ● Competency in quality checking and measurement techniques ● Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot basic equipment issues ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES ● Attention to Detail: Ability to produce items to exact specifications and identify quality issues ● Reliability and Punctuality: Consistent attendance and ability to meet production schedules ● Safety Mindset: Genuine commitment to safe work practices and reporting of hazards ● Problem-Solving: Ability to identify machine issues and escalate appropriately ● Communication: Clear reporting to supervisory staff and effective communication within a team environment ● Physical Capability: Ability to perform standing duties, manual handling, and machine operation duties for full shifts ● Teamwork: Collaborative approach to work, including supporting new team members and participating in continuous improvement initiatives WORKING CONDITIONS ● Full-time position ● Shift work including early starts ● Manufacturing floor environment ● Exposure to machinery, noise, and standard manufacturing conditions ● Requirements to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ● Standing for extended periods DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES ● Previous experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication facility ● Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies ● Forklift license or willingness to obtain ● Experience with machine preventative maintenance HOW TO APPLY Interested candidates should submit a resume outlining relevant experience and qualifications to the recruitment team.
