14/7/26 4056448 Commercial Finance Manager Senior Executive Sydney Permanent / Full Time Job Description This is an outstanding opportunity to join a major consumer products group as it simplifies its operating model, sharpens its commercial focus and delivers an ambitious program of productivity and cost improvement.
Supporting a diverse product portfolio, you will take commercial ownership of manufacturing, packaging and related operational performance.
Your remit will span product costing, manufacturing efficiency, customer profitability, planning, capital investment and business improvement.
This is much more than a reporting role.
You will work closely with senior operations, supply chain, sales and finance leaders to turn complex operational data into clear commercial decisions.
You will have the autonomy to identify opportunities, challenge established thinking and materially influence how the business manages cost, capacity, complexity and margin.
The Role Your key responsibilities will include: Owning the commercial and financial performance of packaging operations across multiple sites, product categories and customer channels Developing a detailed understanding of unit cost and profitability by product, SKU, pack format and customer Translating operational drivers—including line speeds, changeovers, utilisation, labour, yield, wastage and logistics—into meaningful financial insight Delivering analysis and recommendations across pricing, margin, product mix and customer profitability Leading budgeting,
forecasting and monthly performance reporting for the packaging portfolio Partnering operational leaders to identify and deliver sustainable cost savings and productivity improvements Preparing robust business cases for capital expenditure, operational initiatives and strategic investment Supporting customer contracts, annual price reviews and commercial negotiations Leading, coaching and developing one direct report What You Will Bring You will be a commercially astute finance professional who enjoys getting close to operations and using data to improve business performance.
You can move confidently between detailed analysis and senior-level conversations, translating complexity into clear recommendations and practical action.
To be successful, you will ideally bring: CA or CPA qualification with at least five years' post-qualified experience Commercial finance or operations finance experience within FMCG, manufacturing, beverages, food, packaging or another asset-intensive environment Strong knowledge of product costing, operational P Ls, budgeting and forecasting An understanding of manufacturing and supply chain drivers such as capacity, utilisation, changeovers, yield, wastage and labour efficiency Demonstrated success supporting cost reduction,
productivity or business improvement initiatives Advanced analytical and financial modelling capability The ability to develop compelling business cases and clearly communicate commercial trade-offs Strong influencing and business-partnering skills across finance and non-finance stakeholders The confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders using evidence and commercial insight Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with D365 or a comparable ERP would be advantageous Your Style You will be naturally curious, pragmatic and solutions-focused.
You are comfortable operating autonomously in an environment where priorities are evolving and not every answer is immediately obvious.
You will combine strong commercial judgement with resilience, humility and an ability to build trust—from the production floor through to senior executives.
