About the Role An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Digital Content Writer to support a major ACT Government business area responsible for delivering clear, accessible and user-focused digital communications.
Working within an agile, multidisciplinary team, you will develop engaging digital content that simplifies complex legislation, policies and technical information into plain English for the community.
This role is ideal for an experienced content qualified with strong digital writing, editing and accessibility expertise who enjoys collaborating with subject matter experts to improve online customer experiences.
You will play an important role in ensuring web content meets government standards, accessibility requirements and user expectations while supporting broader communication initiatives.
Position: Digital Content Writer – $*****-$*****/hour + Super Location: Canberra ACT Working Arrangement:



Hybrid – Work from Home with one day per week in the office Start Date: ASAP (pending satisfactory Police Check) Duration: 6 months Application Window: Closes 5:00pm Wednesday 12 August **** (may close earlier) Key Responsibilities Develop, write and maintain high-quality digital content for websites and online platforms.
Translate complex legislative, policy and technical information into clear, concise plain English.
Produce user-centred content aligned with accessibility, readability and government style standards.
Collaborate with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather information and validate content.
Review, edit and improve existing digital content to enhance customer experience.
Apply WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and digital content best practices across all communications.
Use audience insights, analytics and feedback to continuously improve digital content performance.
Support the development of communication materials, guidance documents and educational resources.
Ensure consistency across digital channels using approved style guides and content governance frameworks.
Contribute to communication planning, stakeholder engagement and project delivery within an agile environment.
Assist with content publishing, quality assurance and content lifecycle management.
Support change initiatives through effective internal and external communications.
About You Demonstrated experience writing and editing digital content for government or highly regulated environments.
Strong ability to communicate complex information in plain language for diverse audiences.
Experience developing user-focused web content using contemporary content design principles.
Sound knowledge of the Australian Government Style Manual, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and digital content best practice.
Understanding of SEO principles, web analytics and digital content optimisation.




Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS); HTML knowledge will be highly regarded.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check.
Full Australian working rights are required.
