About the Role The Chef position is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, and supporting the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
The role requires strong culinary skills, effective coordination with the kitchen team, and the ability to maintain consistency during busy service periods.
Location: 627 Chapel Street, South Yarra VIC **** Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $80,000 to $85,000 + Superannuation Key Responsibilities Cook menu items in accordance with established recipes, portion specifications, and presentation standards Monitor cooking processes to ensure meals are prepared consistently and served within required timeframes Examine food ingredients and finished dishes to maintain quality, freshness, taste, and presentation Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, tandoors, fryers, and other kitchen equipment during food preparation Season and finish dishes to achieve consistent flavour profiles and restaurant quality standards Assist with menu planning by contributing ideas for seasonal dishes, specials, and menu improvements Monitor stock levels, estimate ingredient requirements,



and assist with ordering to ensure uninterrupted kitchen operations Check deliveries and ensure ingredients are stored, rotated, and handled in accordance with food safety requirements Train and support junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, kitchen procedures, and hygiene practices Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen by complying with food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety requirements Work collaboratively with other chefs and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and high customer satisfaction Candidate Requirements Relevant qualification such as Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery), or equivalent.
Minimum 1-2 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Chef.
Experience working in a busy restaurant or commercial kitchen environment, preferably in an Indian cuisine restaurant.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and Indian cuisine preparation, including curries, spice blends, tandoor dishes and traditional cooking methods.
Ability to maintain high food quality and presentation standards under pressure.
Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
