Position Details Employer: PRN Mechanical Pty Ltd Trading Name: Midas Service Centre Port Adelaide Position Title: Motor Mechanic Location: Port Adelaide, South Australia Employment Type: Full time Positions Available: 2 Salary: AUD $80,000 – $85,000 plus Superannuation About the Company PRN Mechanical Pty Ltd, trading as Midas Service Centre Port Adelaide, is a professional automotive repair and maintenance workshop located in Port Adelaide, South Australia.
The business provides comprehensive servicing and mechanical repairs for a wide range of light vehicles, including logbook servicing, engine diagnostics, brake and suspension repairs, steering and transmission repairs, wheel alignments, air-conditioning servicing, cooling-system repairs and general mechanical maintenance.
The workshop is committed to delivering high-quality workmanship, reliable customer service, and repairs carried out in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Australian industry standards.
Position Summary The Motor Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles (predominantly petrol) and their mechanical components.
The position requires the use of modern diagnostic equipment to identify faults, carry out repairs, perform scheduled maintenance, and ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical and engine-performance faults in light motor vehicles, including engine, cooling, transmission, steering, suspension and braking systems using electronic diagnostic equipment, manufacturer service information and technical service bulletins.
Perform logbook servicing and scheduled maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks and engine tune-ups, to meet manufacturer service schedules and emissions requirements.




Inspect, dismantle, repair and replace engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and cooling-system components, and refit repaired assemblies to vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Repair engine-performance and cooling-system faults, replacing worn or defective parts using appropriate workshop procedures and equipment.
Reassemble repaired components, then test and adjust vehicles for wheel alignment, engine tuning and overall performance to verify repairs and roadworthiness.
Complete accurate repair orders, service records and maintenance documentation in accordance with workshop procedures and manufacturer requirements.
Report repair findings, maintenance recommendations and vehicle service requirements to the Workshop Manager and customers, and maintain workshop tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and organised condition in line with workplace health and safety policies.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or a higher/equivalent qualification, e.g. Certificate IV).
Relevant post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic working on light motor vehicles is preferred.
Sound knowledge of light-vehicle engine systems, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and cooling systems and other mechanical components.
Proficient in using electronic diagnostic equipment, workshop tools and manufacturer service manuals to identify and repair mechanical faults.
Strong diagnostic, problem-solving and fault-finding skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to perform repairs and scheduled servicing efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship, quality and workplace safety.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced workshop environment.
A current Australian Driver Licence is desirable.
