About the position: As a Diversional Therapist, you will play a a pivotal role in creating engaging, person-centered leisure and well-being experiences for the individuals we support.
You will design and deliver programs that enhance emotional, social, cognitive, and physical wellbeing.
Working closely with clinical and support teams, you will develop therapeutic and recreational activities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our participants.
Key duties and responsibilities include: Assess participants' leisure, social, and recreational needs in line with their NDIS plans, individual goals, interests, abilities, strengths, and support requirements.
Conduct task analysis to identify participants' abilities, areas requiring support, and their capacity to complete activities and interact with others.
Plan, design, implement, and evaluate individualised and group diversional therapy and recreational activity programs across Whitebream facilities in the Sydney region.
Develop and facilitate therapeutic recreation activities, including arts, music, sensory, cognitive, social, and community-based programs to promote participants' wellbeing, social development, independence, and community inclusion.
Evaluate participants' progress and adapt programs to suit individual needs, interests, skills, abilities, and changing support requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including program plans, progress notes, participant assessments, and outcome reports.
Contribute to participant goal reviews, NDIS plan reviews, and ongoing evaluation of support strategies to achieve positive participant outcomes.
Collaborate with support coordinators, behaviour support practitioners, allied health professionals, families,



and other stakeholders to deliver holistic and person-centred outcomes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available resources, services, and recreational opportunities within the facility and the broader community.
Provide information, guidance, and referrals regarding available community support resources and services that may benefit participants.
Organise and coordinate leisure, recreational, and community inclusion events that support participants' interests, social engagement, and personal development.
Encourage and support participants to actively engage in activities that align with their individual preferences, goals, abilities, and interests.
Promote participant choice, control, dignity, and inclusion in the planning and delivery of all activities.
Assist with the training, guidance, and supervision of support workers, volunteers, and staff involved in delivering therapeutic activity programs.
Provide training and guidance to support workers on appropriate therapeutic activity delivery and participant engagement strategies.
Ensure all programs and activities comply with NDIS Practice Standards, relevant legislation, and Whitebream's policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience Requirement: Minimum 2-3 years' experience delivering diversional therapy programs in a disability, aged care,



or community health setting Demonstrated experience developing and implementing individualised leisure and lifestyle programs aligned with participant NDIS goals Hold a Diploma in Community Services, Certificate III or Certificate IV in Disability, Individual Support, or a related qualification.
Strong understanding of person-centred practice and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Standards Experience conducting leisure interest assessments and functional capacity evaluations Ability to design and deliver group and individual therapeutic recreation programs Solid documentation skills including progress notes, program evaluations, and NDIS reporting Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, support coordinators, and families Knowledge of restrictive practices framework and behaviour support plans preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in client management systems and Microsoft Office Other information Salary reference: Consistent with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award **** (SCHADS Award) Allied Health classification rates and NSW Health Allied Health salary scales for equivalent positions Australian citizens and permanent residents performing equivalent work would be offered the same salary under the same terms If you are ready to take the next step in your career and feel you meet the requirements for this role, we encourage you to apply.
