Abound Supports is currently seeking a dedicated Residential Care Officer to work with their clients in a group home accommodation (SIL/SDA).
The successful candidate will help residents achieve greater independence and quality of life.
Location : Sutherland Shire, NSW Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 per annum (depending upon the experience) Role : Full-time Key responsibilities include: • Develop, implement and regularly review individualised education, training, support plans that reflect each participant's goals, preferences, abilities and changing support requirements.
• Assess participants' needs and address them relating to health, welfare, accommodation, education, employment, and training and community access.
• Coordinate and supervise participants' daily routines within shared and supported living environments.
• Provide appropriate mental health, emotional and social support while following relevant behaviour support plans to strengthen participants' wellbeing and independence.
• Apply positive behaviour support strategies and person-centred practices to assist participants in achieving improved quality-of-life outcomes.
• Consult with participants and their families to identify personal concerns, assess the nature and extent of their support needs and determine suitable intervention strategies.
• Observe and evaluate participants' progress against their individual goals and maintain accurate progress notes, case records and incident reports.
• Maintain a safe, stable and welcoming home environment by identifying potential hazards, managing risks and promoting practices for overall wellbeing.
• Support participants to maintain meaningful relationships with their families, cultural networks, friends and local communities.
• Plan and facilitate participation in recreational, social, educational and community-based activities that build confidence, inclusion and social connections.
• Liaise with families, support coordinators, welfare agencies, healthcare professionals and other service providers.
• Monitor the use of participant-related resources and approved funding to ensure supports are delivered efficiently, responsibly and in accordance with individual plans.
Relevant Qualifications and skills: • Minimum Diploma in community services or equivalent qualification in a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience in Australia • Sound knowledge of the NDIS framework and disability support services in Australia.
• Demonstrated administrative and case management capabilities.
• Solid verbal communication and professional writing skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
• Proven ability to deliver responsive and person-centred customer service.
• Experience supporting participants with complex or high-care needs is desirable.
