Role Overview The Safety Business Partner works closely with leaders, employees and operational teams to strengthen workplace safety, improve safety capability and support positive outcomes across Council.
Reporting to the WHS Coordinator, this permanent full-time role provides practical Work Health and Safety advice, coaching, training and operational support across a diverse and complex organisation.
The position will undertake workplace inspections, investigations and safety assessments, contribute to the ongoing development of Council's Safety Management System and support leaders to meet their legislative responsibilities.

Job Offering Base salary - $97,487 - $101,******% superannuation Relocation assistance can be discussed 72.5 hour fortnight with a 9-day fortnight and one RDO 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading Flexible work arrangements available by agreement Opportunity to influence safety outcomes across a large and diverse organisation Join a values-driven Council focused on its people, workplace safety and community outcomes Key Responsibilities Build strong working relationships across Council, providing practical safety guidance that helps leaders and employees manage risks and meet their workplace obligations.
Support operational teams to improve safety performance through coaching, workplace visits, risk assessments, inspections, incident investigations and follow-up improvement actions.
Deliver key components of Council's safety plans, including training sessions, toolbox talks, safety committee presentations and initiatives that strengthen safety awareness and leadership capability.
Maintain and improve safety procedures, registers, risk management tools and supporting documentation, while contributing to the ongoing development of Council's Work Health and Safety Management System.
Work with employees, Health and Safety Representatives and contractors to identify emerging risks, resolve safety concerns and introduce practical improvements suited to different work environments.
Prepare clear reports, investigation findings, correspondence and recommendations, while supporting the development of junior safety team members and contributing to a professional, consistent safety service.
Qualifications and Experience Relevant Work Health and Safety qualifications, supported by sound knowledge of legislation, risk management requirements and contemporary safety practices.
Demonstrated safety experience within a complex, diverse or higher-risk organisation, with the ability to convert legislative and technical requirements into practical workplace solutions.
Proven capability in conducting investigations, audits, inspections and risk assessments, including managing corrective actions through to completion.
Solid communication and relationship-building skills, with experience coaching leaders, delivering training, preparing reports and influencing employees at all organisational levels.
Ability to manage sensitive matters, difficult conversations and competing priorities with professionalism, sound judgement and a calm, solutions-focused approach.
Capacity to work independently and collaboratively across office, operational, remote or isolated locations, together with a current Class C driver's licence.
