Partner with Defence, Australian industry and Kongsberg's global engineering teams.
Current Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance is essential.

Joining a growing Australian engineering team, you'll contribute to nationally significant defence programs while collaborating with Defence, Australian industry partners and Kongsberg's global engineering specialists.
The Opportunity Reporting to the Engineering leadership team, the Senior Systems Engineer – Guided Weapons will provide technical leadership across complex systems engineering activities supporting Kongsberg's Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance programs.
Partnering with Defence, Kongsberg's global engineering teams and Australian industry partners, you will deliver engineering outcomes that meet the highest technical, regulatory and quality standards.
Working across the full engineering lifecycle, you will contribute to systems integration, technical assessments, requirements management, verification activities, interface management and engineering governance.
Acting as a key technical link between Australia and Norway,
you will support sovereign industrial capability initiatives while helping establish and strengthen Kongsberg's engineering presence in Australia.
Based in Newcastle, this role offers the opportunity to help shape the local engineering function, influence ways of working and contribute to the continued development of the Newcastle engineering team as the business grows.
About You You are an experienced systems engineer who thrives in complex engineering environments and enjoys solving technical challenges through collaboration.
You combine strong technical capability with excellent communication skills and are confident engaging with Defence, industry and international engineering teams.
To be successful, you will demonstrate: Proven systems engineering experience within Defence, aerospace or other complex engineering environments.
Experience leading systems integration and engineering across the project lifecycle.
Strong knowledge of requirements management, risk management and systems engineering governance.
Experience producing technical documentation, system analyses and engineering recommendations.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechatronics or similar), Physics or Chemistry.
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), or equivalent, will be highly regarded.
Eligibility to access ITAR-controlled information is desirable.
Security Clearance Requirement Applicants must currently hold an Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance.
Due to Defence program requirements, candidates without an active NV1 clearance may be unable to commence for up to six months while clearance is obtained.
As a result, an existing NV1 clearance is considered essential for this opportunity.
