Talent World is seeking an experienced and dedicated Accountant on behalf of our client, a growing modular construction company located in Darwin.
Position Details Job Title: Accountant Location: Darwin, NT **** Employment Type: Full time permanent Salary: AUD 95,000 plus superannuation Working Hours: 38 hours per week About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to join a dynamic and expanding modular construction business in Darwin.
Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of modular homes at its Darwin facility, with completed modules transported and installed at destinations across the Northern Territory and beyond.
The business also delivers large scale environmental and waste management services under long term contracts with major government and industry clients.
As the business continues to grow across these operations, it requires an experienced Accountant to manage its financial reporting, compliance and internal accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities Assist in formulating and reviewing the company's budgetary and accounting policies to support financial planning across the manufacturing and environmental services divisions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets, for presentation to management and directors, in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
Conduct financial investigations and prepare reports on matters such as project costings, contract profitability and cash flow, and provide supporting analysis for capital financing and business decisions.
Examine operating costs and the company's income and expenditure across its manufacturing facility, project sites and environmental services contracts, identifying variances and reporting on financial performance.
Provide assurance on the accuracy of financial reports and their compliance with statutory and taxation requirements,
including preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements and GST reporting.
Provide financial and taxation advice on business operations and structures, supporting management decision making across the company's construction and environmental services activities.
Prepare and review taxation returns and related compliance documentation for the company, liaising with external tax agents and auditors as required.
Liaise with financial institutions, brokers and other external stakeholders to support funds management, project financing and working capital arrangements.
Introduce, maintain and advise on the company's accounting systems, including selection and application of computer based accounting and reporting software.
Maintain and strengthen internal control systems across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger functions, including reconciliations and month end close procedures.
Appraise cash flow and financial risk associated with capital investment projects, including new equipment, facility expansion and long term contract commitments.
Skills and Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting or financial reporting role.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or a closely related field, or higher qualification such as a Master of Professional Accounting, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation law and statutory reporting requirements.
Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements, manage reconciliations, and oversee compliance reporting including BAS and GST obligations.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or Handisoft, and Quickbooks.
Strong analytical, reconciliation and attention to detail skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with management, external advisors and other stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines in a fast paced, multi site business environment.
