Brisbane based candidates only We're looking for a Principal AWS Platform Architect to lead the evolution of a large-scale AWS platform from infrastructure management to enterprise cloud governance.
This is not a traditional infrastructure architecture role.
You'll help shape the way development teams build, deploy and operate applications by establishing secure, scalable and repeatable cloud patterns across the organisation.
Working closely with architects, platform engineers, security specialists and application development teams, you'll define cloud standards, uplift governance and drive best practice across a modern AWS environment.
What you'll do Lead the architecture, governance and ongoing evolution of a large-scale AWS platform.
Design and maintain AWS Organisations, Control Tower and enterprise landing zone capabilities.
Develop cloud governance frameworks, guardrails, policies and operating standards.
Partner with application development teams to define secure deployment patterns and platform capabilities.
Drive platform engineering initiatives that improve developer experience and accelerate delivery.
Design secure cloud architectures using native AWS security services.
Provide technical leadership across identity, networking, security and cloud operating models.
Support engineering teams in adopting up-to-date application deployment approaches including containers, serverless and event-driven architectures.
Contribute to architecture decisions,



technical standards and cloud strategy across the organisation.
Mentor engineers and architects while promoting cloud best practices throughout the business.
About you You'll be someone who has helped build and govern enterprise AWS platforms rather than simply consuming them.
You'll bring experience across: Enterprise AWS architecture and cloud operating models.
AWS Organisations and AWS Control Tower design, configuration and governance.
Enterprise landing zones, multi-account strategies and cloud governance.
AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Detective, Network Firewall, IAM and security policy management.
Container platforms including ECS and/or EKS.
Serverless architectures using AWS Lambda.
Event-driven architecture and modern application deployment patterns.
Platform engineering and DevSecOps practices.
Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK (TypeScript preferred).
Strong understanding of application development using Java, Node.js and TypeScript.
Working collaboratively with software engineering teams to improve deployment patterns and developer experience.
You'll stand out if you have experience with Enterprise cloud governance or Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) environments.
