Principal Engineer Remote (Australia) | 6-Month Contract | Enterprise Digital Platform We're partnering with a leading enterprise organisation to appoint an experienced Principal Engineer to help shape the reliability, scalability and future direction of one of Australia's largest digital platforms.
This is an opportunity to operate at the highest technical level, working across multiple engineering teams to solve complex distributed systems challenges, improve platform resilience and influence engineering strategy across a large-scale cloud environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling difficult technical problems, mentoring senior engineers and driving engineering excellence without the responsibility of direct people management.
About the Role Reporting into senior engineering leadership, you'll work closely with Engineering Managers, Architects and Platform teams to improve reliability, observability and scalability across enterprise platforms.
You'll champion Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, influence architectural decisions and help engineering teams build highly available, fault-tolerant and scalable cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.
Drive improvements in platform reliability, resilience and performance.
Design scalable cloud-native and distributed systems.
Establish and improve SLOs, SLIs and error budgets.
Lead technical incident reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.




Reduce operational toil through automation and Infrastructure as Code.
Improve observability through enterprise monitoring and telemetry platforms.
Partner with Architecture, Platform Engineering and Security teams.
Mentor senior engineers and uplift engineering capability.
Influence technical strategy across the wider organisation.
About You You'll be an experienced Principal or Lead Engineer who has operated within large enterprise environments and enjoys solving complex engineering problems at scale.
