Job Description Contribute to the governance and strategic direction of Hunter Trade College, supporting young people across the Hunter region to build practical skills and meaningful pathways into trade careers.

Based in Telarah, the College supports students through a safety-first focus, quality academic and technical courses, an inclusive environment, and work-based learning opportunities.
The College Board draws from industry, community, training and school sectors, providing broad representation and expertise.
This volunteer Board appointment will contribute to setting strategic direction, maintaining financial integrity, supporting sound governance, and ensuring the College continues to meet the needs of its stakeholders, including students and industry.
The Opportunity As a Volunteer Board Director , you will contribute to the effective governance, strategic direction and long-term sustainability of Hunter Trade College.
Working with the Board Chair, fellow Directors and CEO, you will provide independent judgement, constructive oversight and specialist expertise to support informed decision-making and strengthen outcomes for students, industry and the broader Hunter community.




Hunter Trade College is particularly seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Finance, audit or financial stewardship; Legal, risk, compliance or governance; or Infrastructure, property, development, facilities or strategic asset management.
Key responsibilities include: Contributing to strategic oversight, governance and long-term sustainability; Supporting informed Board decision-making across strategy, finance, risk, compliance, quality and performance; Overseeing CEO accountability while maintaining clear separation between governance and operations; Reviewing Board papers, reports, risk information and strategic updates; Contributing to the College's strategic plan, annual operating plan and budget; Supporting relationships with Hunter industry, employers, education and training partners; and Upholding director duties, confidentiality, conflicts management, ethical conduct and governance policies.
About You You are an experienced Board Director, Committee Member, senior executive or senior leader with sound governance judgement, strategic capability and genuine alignment with Hunter Trade College's purpose.
To be successful, you will demonstrate: Board, Committee, executive or senior leadership experience; Expertise in finance, legal/risk, infrastructure, property, development, governance or compliance; Sound commercial judgement and the ability to interpret financial,



risk and performance information; Understanding of director duties, confidentiality, conflicts and governance/operations separation; Ability to contribute independently and constructively within a collegiate Board; and Alignment with Hunter Trade College's values and commitment to work-ready trade pathways.
Experience in, or connection to, education, vocational training, apprenticeships, traineeships, workforce development, industry engagement or trade pathways will be highly regarded, as will established networks across Hunter industry, education, infrastructure, property, legal, finance, government, training or community sectors.
