Position: Chef (ANZSCO ******) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 38 hours/week (+ reasonable additional hours as required) Salary: AUD $80,000 – $90,000 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation Location: Mount Evelyn About Us We are a busy Indian restaurant known for authentic North Indian cuisine, seating up to 55 covers, with an emphasis on fresh spices and traditional cooking methods .
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time, ongoing basis, specialising in authentic Indian cuisine.
This is a genuine vacancy arising from business growth and the successful applicant will play a key role in menu development, food preparation, and kitchen management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Plan and prepare authentic Indian menus, including a range of curries, tandoor-cooked dishes, breads, and accompaniments Operate and maintain the tandoor oven, including preparation of tandoori meats, seafood, and breads (naan, roti, kulcha) Prepare traditional curries and gravies using authentic spice blends and cooking techniques Estimate food and labour costs, and order and receive stock and supplies Discuss food preparation issues with managers,



kitchen and waiting staff Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on cooking procedures to other kitchen staff Coordinate and supervise activities of kitchen staff Set staff rosters and rotate kitchen staff to allow experience in different areas Maintain records relating to food quality, and monitor food hygiene and cleanliness standards Explain and enforce hygiene regulations May select and butcher meat/poultry/fish Requirements Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher), or equivalent trade qualification and relevant work experience Minimum 3 years' recent, relevant full-time experience working as a Chef Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing authentic Indian curries and gravies Demonstrated hands-on experience operating a tandoor oven (tandoori meats, breads, etc.) Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Safety Supervisor certification highly regarded) Strong knowledge of Indian regional cuisine and spice blending Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment Strong leadership and team supervision skills Excellent time management and organisational skills Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by the roster What We Offer Market-competitive salary above award Full-time, stable employment with genuine career progression Supportive, professional kitchen team How to Apply Please send your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience to Tandooricurryhouse@gmail or apply via online.
