About the organisation Our client is a well-established, privately owned Australian manufacturer with a strong reputation in their category.
They're investing seriously in operational excellence as the business grows, and this role has been created as part of that investment.
About the chance This business is ready to move on from reactive maintenance, and they need someone to build the function that gets them there.
There's no CMMS in place today.
No structured PM program.
Most of what happens on the floor right now is fixing things after they break.
That's the opportunity.
You're not inheriting a system and optimising it, you're building one from the ground up, on a site with rapidly growing volume.
What the role actually involves The first priority is standing up a CMMS and using it to bring structure to a maintenance function that's currently running on reaction rather than plan.
From there, you'll build out preventative maintenance programs based on actual asset criticality and failure data, and start applying RCM and FMEA methodology to get ahead of the failures that are currently eating time and budget.
As the reactive load comes down, you'll shift focus to longer-term reliability strategy across the site's core processing and packing equipment, including how capital projects are scoped, how equipment is upgraded or replaced, and how critical spares are managed.

You'll lead a small team and contractors and report to the Operations Manager, with real scope to shape how the function works rather than slot into an existing one.
What you'll bring Five to ten years in maintenance, reliability or engineering leadership within FMCG manufacturing Experience implementing a CMMS or building a maintenance function from limited foundations, not just operating an established one A genuine track record of moving a site from reactive to planned maintenance Confidence presenting a case for change and building buy-in with production and executive stakeholders Relevant tertiary qualifications Why this one's worth a look Most reliability roles ask you to improve on what's already there.
This one asks you to build it.
If you want ownership over the system itself, not just the outcomes it produces, this is a rare one.
