LO-GO Appointments QLD, a niche Local Government recruitment agency, is assisting a Far North Queensland Council in the search for an experienced Governance Officer/Child Safety Contact Officer for a six month temporary assignment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced governance professional who enjoys operational, hands-on work and can confidently manage a diverse governance portfolio spanning RTI, privacy, complaints, child safety, compliance and governance reporting.
A flexible remote-first working arrangement is available for suitably experienced Queensland-based candidates following an initial onsite induction and systems training period.

This is a genuinely hands-on role where you will personally manage RTI, privacy, complaints, governance reporting and compliance functions rather than coordinating the work through a larger governance team.
About the role Working as part of the Office of the CEO, you will be responsible for delivering a broad range of governance functions, including: Managing Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy applications Providing Privacy Officer support, including data breach management and legislative compliance Coordinating complaints management, including Public Interest Disclosures (PIDs), administrative action complaints and external agency correspondence Maintaining statutory registers, delegations and governance documentation Drafting and reviewing governance policies and procedures Coordinating governance reporting,
annual reporting requirements and Audit Risk Committee reporting Administering Council's compliance calendar, insurance renewals and claims Providing governance advice across the organisation Undertaking the Child Safety Contact Officer responsibilities, including administration of the Reportable Conduct Scheme Providing day-to-day guidance to a very small Records Management team while maintaining oversight of Council's records management function About you To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Proven experience in a Governance, Compliance, RTI, Privacy or Complaints role within Australian local government, preferably in Queensland.
Sound knowledge of governance legislation and contemporary governance practices Experience interpreting legislation, preparing correspondence and managing governance casework Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and statutory timeframes Previous experience providing day-to-day guidance or supervision to a small team will be highly regarded Experience with the Child Safe Organisations framework is desirable but not essential.
