MAYDAY Recruitment is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Officer Accounting Assistant to join a growing and fast-paced business within the healthcare recruitment sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across both payroll and finance functions in a collaborative environment.
Reporting to the Head of Finance and Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll processing, financial administration, reporting, and compliance support.
The role would suit someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem-solving, and has strong attention to detail, particularly within complex or award-based payroll.

Full time permanent opportunity $75,****** - $80,****** + super Hybrid working available after probation (2 days from home) Supportive and collaborative team culture Varied role with exposure across payroll and finance operations Opportunity to join a growing and successful business within the healthcare sector Key Responsibilities: End-to-end payroll support, including timesheet validation and payroll processing Interpreting healthcare awards, overtime, and on-call calculations Maintaining payroll records and ensuring compliance with Fair Work legislation Processing invoices, reconciliations,
and general bookkeeping tasks Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions Preparing reports, spreadsheets, and financial data analysis Assisting with budgeting, margin analysis, and finance administration Supporting month-end processes and ad hoc finance projects Collaborating with payroll, finance, compliance, and sales teams to ensure operational accuracy Providing support with urgent payroll or finance-related matters when required About You: Minimum 2 years' experience in payroll and/or accounting support Experience within healthcare recruitment, agency payroll, or shift-based industries highly regarded Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation High attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills Confident using Excel, including pivot tables and reporting functions Experience with payroll/accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, KeyPay, QuickBooks, or similar Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Positive, adaptable, and solutions-focused mindset If you are looking for a role where no two weeks are the same and you can bring your payroll and finance expertise into a cooperative environment, we would love to hear from you.
