As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Motor Mechanic (General) to join our experienced team.
About the Role As a Motor Mechanic (General) at Customline Motors, you will maintain, test, and repair a broad range of vehicles, from modern everyday passenger vehicles through to Australian and American classic and muscle cars.
You will bring strong diagnostic skills, mechanical precision, and a genuine passion for vehicles to our hands-on workshop environment, delivering the quality workmanship our customers and enthusiast clients have come to rely on.
Key Duties Responsibilities Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components across a wide range of makes and models Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, and inspecting parts for wear or damage Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, referring to service and technical manuals as required Performing scheduled maintenance services including logbook servicing, oil changes, lubrications,



and engine tune-ups to ensure optimal vehicle performance Reassembling engines and mechanical components following repair and overhaul Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after repair to ensure proper performance and safety Diagnosing and testing components with the assistance of computerised diagnostic equipment Performing specialised mechanical work on Australian and American classic and muscle cars, including engine rebuilds, drivetrain restoration, and period-correct repairs Inspecting vehicles and advising on roadworthiness as required Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop in accordance with occupational health and safety standards Requirements AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR*****) including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) Proven experience of at least 1 year as a qualified Motor Mechanic (General) Experience servicing and repairing a broad range of vehicle makes and models — essential A genuine interest in or experience with Australian and American classic, vintage, or muscle cars, highly regarded Proficiency in computerised diagnostic tools and equipment Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical specifications across a range of vehicles Solid attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship Current Victorian driver's licence — mandatory At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications Registration or licensing may be required What We Offer Competitive trade rates commensurate with experience and qualifications Full-time, stable employment with a long-established and reputable workshop The opportunity to work on a diverse range of vehicles, from daily drivers to prized Australian and American classic and muscle cars A passionate, specialist team environment that values craftsmanship and automotive enthusiasm Conveniently located in Lalor, north of Melbourne, with easy access from across the northern suburbs Monday to Saturday hours — no Sunday work ?
