08th July, **** Purpose / Objective: Employment Advisors volunteer in the ASC Employment Hub, providing one-on-one support to people seeking asylum as they strive to achieve their employment, training and education goals.
Commitment: Minimum 6 months Days and hours required per week: Flexible, one day per week (5 hours) Location: ASC Office in Newtown (43 Bedford Street) Duties Responsibilities Support people who attend the ASC Employment Hub to develop resumes and cover letters, utilising ASC templates Link people with relevant internal and external supports or services as appropriate Provide assistance from a people-centred and strengths-based perspective Record the details of your meetings in our database and keep records updated Regularly check ASC emails to stay up to date with Centre news and process updates Check in with clients by phone to track job placements, address any additional needs, survey their satisfaction, and close cases where appropriate Offer post-placement support for clients who have found work.
This includes reviewing contracts, payslips, responsibilities and training; discussing workplace communication and norms; reviewing rights and responsibilities; troubleshooting questions, and discussing goals and professional development Collect feedback and update case files Selection Criteria A sound understanding of the Australian job seeking and employment landscape Experience with resume, cover letter and application writing Solid customer service and communication skills including active listening,



relationship building, problem solving, efficiency, empathy and collaboration Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures An understanding of issues affecting people seeking asylum in Australia An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, trauma-informed practice Excellent computer skills; confidence using Google products (Mail, Calendar and Drive) and confidence using (or willingness and ability to learn) how to use a database Ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully with other team members Flexibility and willingness to think outside the box and take initiative Ability to adhere to our code of conduct and boundaries and confidentiality policies Strong prioritisation and time management skills, and attention to detail Experience in coaching, mentoring and/or training is beneficial General Conditions All ASC staff and volunteers are required to: Adhere to ASC's vision, purpose and values Act at all times per ASC's Code of Conduct, Boundaries and Child Protection Policies Comply with Work, Health and Safety systems Comply with Incident Management Procedures and emergency protocols Demonstrate respectful and welcoming behaviour with all people at ASC in culturally appropriate ways Support a child safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements and willing to provide NSW police check if requested Apply For Job
