About the Role This WHS Officer position reports to the Safety Manager and is based primarily at a major operational site in Western Sydney, with occasional travel to other locations as required.
The role is highly visible and hands-on, partnering closely with operational leaders and frontline teams to support the delivery of safety initiatives, compliance activities, and risk management programs.
You will play a key role in driving safety engagement, conducting site-based activities, and supporting the ongoing development of a positive safety culture.
The position would suit someone who enjoys being operationally involved, building strong relationships on the ground, and working within a fast-paced, high-risk environment where safety is a genuine business priority.
Key Responsibilities Support implementation and maintenance of WHS systems across operational sites Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and safety observations Assist with hazard identification,



risk assessments, and control implementation Support contractor management and ensure WHS compliance requirements are met Maintain risk registers and critical control verification processes Support and participate in incident investigations and corrective actions Facilitate WHS consultation, toolbox talks, and safety communications Assist with Return to Work and Injury Management processes Provide practical, on-site guidance to operations teams on safety requirements and best practice Candidate Requirements Experience in a WHS role within heavy industry environments such as manufacturing, logistics, waste or similar Strong understanding of site-based risk management and operational safety Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations Familiarity with WHS management systems (ISO ***** or equivalent) Strong communication skills with the ability to engage frontline operational teams Relevant WHS qualifications (Cert IV minimum, Diploma preferred) Experience with occupational hygiene risks such as silica highly regarded Culture This is a rapid-paced, operational environment where safety is a key priority.
