Urgent requirement of Mesh WiFi Device Testing Engineer - Contract - Australia Requirements Key Responsibilities Device Mesh Testing · Perform interoperability qualification and validation testing between Telstra WiFi Boosters and Telstra Smart Modems · Execute end-to-end mesh testing on Telstra Smart Modems, ensuring compliance with expected behaviour and industry standards.
· Conduct sanity, regression, and stability testing on firmware upgrades and downgrades for boosters and gateways.
· Perform manual WiFi performance testing, including coverage, throughput, roaming behaviour, failover, reconnection, and overall mesh effectiveness.
· Execute booster onboarding and connectivity testing using Ethernet and WPS, validating 2.4GHz / 5GHz behaviour, channel changes, and client connectivity.
Test Execution Defect Management · Capture logs, record results, and clearly document findings during test execution.
· Raise defects and observations through standard tracking and reporting processes using JIRA, ensuring all supporting logs, evidence, and reproduction steps are included.
· Support root cause analysis activities by providing clear test data and validating fixes.
Collaboration Vendor Engagement · Work closely with product leads, engineering teams, and vendors to plan, execute, and validate test activities.
· Generate clear and concise test reports and updates for wider stakeholder consumption.
· Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and ways of working.
Lab Site Activities · Maintain a strong on-site presence at the 400 George Street lab, with flexibility to work from home, on certain days as required.
· Support lab and colocation activities involving modems, smart boosters,



and mesh equipment.
Skills Required: Key Technical Knowledge · WIFI, Booster, Mesh experience desired but not mandatory.
· Understanding of WiFi and networking fundamentals, including channels, bands, backhaul vs fronthaul, client association, MAC, BSSID, and mesh concepts.
· Experience with consumer networking devices, including gateways, boosters, and home network setups.
· Working knowledge of Windows and Ubuntu/Linux command-line environments.
· Ability to understand logs and expected device behaviour during testing.
