Stenographer About Us onpoint 365 is a majority Indigenous-owned Australian business delivering professional workforce and support services across government and industry.
We are currently seeking a Stenographer or Court Reporter to support a confidential Commonwealth Government engagement in Sydney.
We have an immediate requirement and are looking to engage a suitably qualified professional as soon as possible.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced freelance stenographers seeking flexible contract work in a professional environment.
Please note: While there is an immediate assignment available, work is offered on an assignment-by-assignment basis and ongoing or consistent work cannot be guaranteed.
About the Role You will be responsible for accurately recording proceedings and producing high-quality records and transcripts in support of sensitive government-related activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, discretion and professionalism, with the ability to work effectively in environments where accuracy and confidentiality are critical.
Key Responsibilities Attend proceedings, meetings, interviews, hearings or similar events within Sydney.
Produce accurate verbatim records using stenographic equipment and/or recognised court reporting techniques.
Prepare high-quality transcripts and records within agreed timeframes.
Maintain strict confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
Ensure all work meets client quality standards and delivery requirements.




Liaise professionally with stakeholders regarding transcript requirements and amendments where required.
Skills Experience Essential Demonstrated experience as a stenographer, court reporter or similar transcription professional.
Excellent written English, grammar and communication skills.
High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to work within tight deadlines.
Strong organisational skills and qualified presentation.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Availability to attend assignments in Sydney at short notice.
Highly Desirable Current PIEC (Protected Information External Contractor) clearance, not required but highly desirable.
Ability to obtain and maintain a PIEC clearance.
Experience supporting Commonwealth Government agencies.
Experience working with protected, sensitive or confidential government information.
Formal stenography, court reporting or related qualifications.
Ownership of stenography equipment and supporting software.
Important: This role is not a full-time position.
Work volumes are dependent on client requirements and project demand, therefore ongoing or regular work cannot be guaranteed.
