Through the Partners in Foster Care program, their focus is entirely on proactive family preservation-tracing vital kinship networks, guiding careful carer approvals, and building paths back to family-based care.
We are currently seeking analytical and empathetic professionals to join the team as Family Connection and Support Officers and Assessing Officers .
About the Roles These roles center on front-end engagement, assessment, and family preservation, utilising strong analytical and interpersonal skills to guide vital child protection and placement decisions.
Family Connection and Support Officer: Focuses on identifying and engaging family members, supporting informed decision-making regarding kin care options, and facilitating safe connections between children and their families to promote family-based care arrangements.
Assessing Officer: Conducts comprehensive assessments of kin carers.
This role requires gathering and analysing information to evaluate carer suitability, collaborating with stakeholders, and producing detailed reports that guide critical placement decisions.
Key Responsibilities Identify, locate, and engage family members to explore viable family-based care options.
Conduct thorough, objective assessments of kin carers using appropriate tools and techniques.
Produce detailed, high-quality analytical reports to inform child protection and placement decision-making.
Collaborate closely with caseworkers, families, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.




Maintain accurate records and meet compliance deadlines while upholding strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Candidate Profile Selection Criteria The successful candidates will be detail-oriented, empathetic individuals with a strong background in human services.
To be successful, candidates will possess: Qualifications: Diploma or higher qualification in Child, Youth Family Intervention, Social Work, Community Services, or a related field.
Certificates: First Aid and CPR Certificates (or the proven ability to acquire them).
Experience: Demonstrated experience in Child Protection or Human Services, showcasing strong client engagement and assessment skills.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Child Protection Act and relevant legislation.
Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills, alongside proficiency in time management and IT to maintain accurate records.
Cultural Awareness: Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Flexibility: Adaptable and versatile working hours to meet client and program needs.
