We are currently looking for an FP A Analyst to join our high performing finance team, based in Sydney.
Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, this role is hands on and delivery focused, with a strong emphasis on producing accurate, timely and well-structured financial and management reporting for Partners, Lawyers and Business Services teams.
You will take ownership of recurring reporting, the validation and analysis of financial data, help to maintain the quality and consistency of information across the firm, and contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes.
Responsibilities: Develop a strong understanding of the key business drivers that impact the profitability of the firm.
Prepare and support the review of monthly management reports, including drafting clear commentary on financial performance and variances to budgets and forecasts for relevant stakeholders.
Prepare weekly reporting on new matter openings and team utilisation, ensuring data accuracy and timely delivery Assist with expense reporting for Business Services teams, including the analysis and explanation of variances.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with Finance Senior Leadership, legal teams and Business Services leaders, ensuring alignment with local and global requirements.
Upload, maintain and reconcile revenue, expense and KPI budgets within the relevant financial systems.
Process Partner performance metrics and support Partner financial management activities, including lock up and related reporting.
Assist with secondment pricing and other ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Prepare presentation materials to support financial discussions with stakeholders and reporting.
Respond to audit queries and support audit requirements as needed.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including participation in team meetings to design new financial dashboards and supporting data validation and testing of financial reports.
About You: Strong technical accounting foundation and a good conceptual understanding.
Tertiary qualification in accounting required; CA or CPA (or working towards) not required but viewed favourably.
Demonstrated commercial awareness, with the ability to understand how key business and practice drivers impact financial performance.
Prior experience in a professional services environment not essential but will be very highly regarded.
Exposure to management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, with the ability to support these processes and build capability over time.
Clear and qualified communication skills, with a developing client service mindset and the confidence to engage with stakeholders with guidance and support Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on the accuracy and quality of outputs.
High intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to work with large data sets and extract clear, actionable insights.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and proactively solve problems.
