About the Role We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant/Finance Business Analyst with robust financial advisory capabilities to support a government business unit through effective financial analysis, reporting and strategic advice.
This role will provide valuable insights into business performance, budgeting and forecasting activities, helping senior leaders make informed decisions and improve operational outcomes.
Working closely with executives, managers and internal stakeholders, you will contribute to financial planning, business improvement initiatives and the development of reporting frameworks that support transparency, accountability and performance optimisation.
Position: Financial Accountant – $100-$120 per hour + super Location: Paramatta, NSW Working Arrangement: Hybrid | 35 hours per week Start Date: ASAP Duration:



Until 30th November **** Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver monthly financial reports, dashboards and performance updates to support informed business decisions.
Analyse financial results, budgets, forecasts and expenditure trends to identify risks, opportunities and improvement areas.
Provide expert financial advice and business insights to managers and senior stakeholders.
Prepare budget submissions, financial forecasts and ongoing financial performance reviews for assigned business areas.
Support funding proposals, business cases and financial modelling activities.
Monitor cash flow, savings targets and financial performance against organisational objectives.
Investigate complex financial and operational issues and recommend practical solutions.
Prepare high-quality briefing notes, reports, policies and supporting documentation for executive review.
Partner with internal teams to implement finance-related initiatives and process improvements.
Build strong stakeholder relationships while managing competing priorities and time-sensitive requests.
Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, governance frameworks and internal controls.
About You Demonstrated experience working as a Financial Accountant, Finance Analyst, Management Accountant in NSW government.
Familiar with Myworkzone SAP and Myoutcomes Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis.
Proven ability to interpret complex financial information and translate insights into practical recommendations.
Experience supporting senior leaders and engaging with diverse stakeholders in a complex organisation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level reports and briefing materials.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.




Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using financial reporting or business intelligence tools.
Experience within government, public sector or large corporate environments is highly desirable.
Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce or a related discipline are preferred.
Professional certifications such as CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), or equivalent are advantageous.
