Job description: Whitehaven Coal is Australia's leading producer of premium-quality coal, committed to delivering safe, sustainable and efficient mining operations.
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Coal Mining to provide operational leadership across our open cut mining activities.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving safe production outcomes, developing frontline leaders, and ensuring the mine plan is executed efficiently while fostering a strong safety and performance culture.
About the Role (Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will): * Lead and mentor a team of Mining Supervisors and operational personnel to achieve safe and productive outcomes.
* Drive compliance with all safety, statutory and environmental obligations.
* Deliver production targets while maintaining high standards of operational excellence.




* Coordinate mining activities in collaboration with Technical Services, Maintenance and other site departments.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and reduce operational risk.
* Develop workforce capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
Monitor operational performance and use data to make informed decisions that improve outcomes.
What You'll Bring * Extensive experience in open cut coal mining operations.
* Demonstrated success in leading large operational teams within a mining environment.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop others.
* Excellent understanding of mine planning, production processes and operational execution.
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic production environment.
* Sound knowledge of Queensland mining legislation and safety management systems.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels of the business.
