Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a technically strong professional Systems Administrator - APAC Operations who can analyse complex, multi‐domain issues , quickly form a clear problem statement, and lead effective technical discussions to resolution.
Success in this role depends not only on technical expertise, but on the ability to communicate clearly, facilitate technical conversations, and collaborate across diverse technology teams .
This position will be based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Provision, manage, monitor, and decommission Systems and Platforms to ensure their availability, reliability, and security.
Work closely with our Enterprise Technology teams to facilitate seamless integration and alignment of technologies and services with business requirements, policies, and sound IT practices.
Provide high level technical guidance and support to Service Delivery team members for IS Operations activities and projects across the Asia Pacific region.
Ensure system design, development, deployment, and security functions align with regional requirements and GHD standards.
Build strategic cross-functional partnerships with Technology and Service Delivery leaders to drive operational resolutions, innovation, and process improvement.
Analyse complex operational and architectural issues spanning multiple platforms,
technologies, and teams to identify root causes and viable resolution paths.
Coordinate technical discussions, workshops, and incident reviews to drive shared understanding, decision‐making, and outcomes.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, pragmatic explanations tailored to the audience, including Service Delivery, Enterprise Technology, Security, and vendors.
Act as a technical coordinator during complex incidents or initiatives, ensuring the right people are engaged at the right time.
Proactively engage stakeholders through direct conversation (e.g. phone or video) where clarity, urgency, or alignment is required, rather than relying solely on messaging or email.
Automate deployment and configuration management using scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
Maintain vulnerability management and business continuity for Cloud and On-prem infrastructure.
Skills and Competencies Strong analytical capability, with the ability to break down complex and ambiguous problems into structured, actionable components.
Excellent verbal communication skills, with confidence leading technical conversations, meetings, and reviews across multiple teams.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate and coordinate technical meetings, keeping discussions focused, productive, and outcome‐driven.
Comfortable engaging in real‐time discussions to resolve issues, clarify requirements, or align stakeholders.
Ability to navigate differing technical opinions and drive consensus through reasoned discussion and evidence‐based decision‐making.
Team-oriented mindset with a preference for building relationships and resolving issues through direct engagement.
Experience managing Azure Virtual Desktop or other DaaS/VDI solutions.
Solid experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Azure products: Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Conditional Access, and Microsoft Endpoints Manager (Intune).
Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop management or other DaaS/VDI solutions.
Orchestration via Nerdio highly regarded.
Sound Information Systems project management skills.
Experience and Qualifications Ideally a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a global systems administrator role/environment, supporting Microsoft environments, enterprise connectivity, cyber security, public and private cloud.
Certification in associated technology disciplines (e.g., Cisco, Azure, M365, MCSA, MCSE, etc) advantageous.
Experience with ServiceNow and Intune would be welcome.
Experience working with remote, multi-cultural teams.
Our preference would be for the successful person to be based in our Auckland office, New Zealand.
