03rd August, **** Purpose / Objective: Support the planning, coordination and delivery of the Asylum Seekers Centre's Alumni Celebration event.
Working alongside the Community Engagement team, this volunteer role will assist with event planning, logistics, stakeholder engagement and communications to create a meaningful celebration that reconnects former clients with the ASC community and recognises their achievements.
Commitment: Minimum 3 months (August – October ****) Days and hours required per week: Approximately 3–5 hours per week (flexible, during office hours) Location: ASC office (43 Bedford Street, Newtown) Duties Responsibilities Assist with planning and coordinating the Alumni Celebration event (date to be confirmed) Support the development and implementation of the event timeline and project plan Assist with guest invitations, registrations and RSVP tracking Liaise with internal teams, volunteers and external partners as required Help coordinate event logistics, including catering, entertainment, venue setup and resources Assist with sourcing donations, prizes or in-kind support where appropriate Prepare event materials, signage and participant information Collaboration with other volunteers before and during the event Attend planning meetings and provide general administrative support Assist with event delivery on the day, including setup, guest support and pack-down Contribute ideas to help create an inclusive,
welcoming and engaging event experience Training ASC Volunteer Induction Role-specific orientation and event briefing Ongoing support and supervision from the Community Engagement Specialist Selection Criteria Experience in event planning, project coordination or community events Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures Intermediate computer skills (confidence in using the internet, Google Workspace and email) Ability to work collaboratively with other staff, volunteers and external stakeholders Flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks as appropriate Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative Ability to adhere to policies in relation to Code of Conduct, boundaries and confidentiality, WHS and data security This role is subject to a successful interview and satisfactory completion of background checks including WWCC and Police Check.
